Divine Providence Hospital

Regarding the architectural study of the various buildings that hosted the Divine Providence Hospital, the truth is that, throughout its history, this Hospital only had a single building suitable for the purpose for which it was built, endowing Vila Real with one of the most emblematic classicist buildings of the first half of the 19th century. All the other buildings had the existing structures adapted to respond to the needs of the Hospital: the first facilities were adaptations of residences, and the last used a college and a former noble house (meanwhile demolished) with its chapel, modified in order to welcome its new functions, thus creating an eclectic building, with a structure of the second half of the 19th century linked to an eighteenth-century chapel and with a classic building of the 20th century.
